Earth Day is just around the corner! Tuesday, April 22 is the day we will honor and celebrate our planet. But in reality–shouldn’t every day be Earth Day?
Keep these easy solutions in mind during your daily routine:
- Swap out incandescent bulbs for CFL’s (Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs).
- Buy local–there are 4 Farmers’ Markets in the Memphis/Shelby County area and 2 in surrounding counties.
- Unplug items such as hair dryers and cell phone chargers when they aren’t being used. Those things slowly consume energy, even when not in use!
- Memphis summers are intense! Try a glass of ice water rather than cranking up the air conditioner.
Have more ideas? Tell us about them by making comments or visiting EcoMemphis.com to contribute ideas, writing, photography or video!
Sunday, April 20, EcoMemphis will be attending Shelby Farms’ Earth Day Celebration: Down to Earth. It should be a wonderful gathering of eco-friendly community members and local organizations showing what they are doing to help the Memphis community become cleaner and greener. Hope to see you there!
